Rev. Tremblay is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Lorraine and Ted (Theodore) Kwiatkowski of Southbridge, a sister-in-law Rachel (Brodeur) Tremblay of Windsor Locks, CT, and 4 nieces and 2 nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Roland R. Tremblay who died in 1994.
Born in Southbridge, July 6, 1927, son of Joseph A. and Corinne (Barbeau) Tremblay.
He graduated from Joliette High School, and Joliette College, in Joliette, Canada, and his Theological studies at the Seminary of Philosophy, and the Grand Seminary in Montreal. He also attended Boston University studying Social Sciences.
He was Ordained a priest June 4, 1953, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Southbridge by Most Reverend Bishop John J. Wright. He served the Diocese of Worcester for over 60 years. He served at St. James in Fisherville, , St. Rose in Northborough, St. Mary in Spencer, St. Theresa of E. Blackstone, Assistant to the Director of Catholic Charities and Chaplain to Nazareth School for boys in Leicester, and Director of Our Lady of the Way in Worcester, and served as Dean of the Southbridge/Webster Deanery. He later was the Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Southbridge, and St. Anthony of Padua in Dudley.
He was a priest's priest and also a people's priest, par excellence. He served God's church tenderly and lovingly for over 60 years. The past 25 years he served as Senior Priest at St Joseph Church in Charlton and was a most loving priest servant, deeply loved by the people, priests, deacons and Sisters. His ministry in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) of the Parish is well remembered by all whose lives he touched and brought closer to the Lord.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from 4:30-6:30PM at St. Joseph's Church, Charlton. A Wake Service will be held following calling hours at 7PM. A Concelebrated Funeral Mass with Bishop Robert McManus will be at 11AM, Thursday, June 29, 2017, at St. Joseph's Church, 10 H. Putnam Road, Charlton, MA. Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery, N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge, MA 01550. Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA is directing the arrangements.
