Wanda L Viruet

Wanda L. Viruet, 53, passed away on August  9, 2021 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Wanda was born in the Bronx, NY and raised in Southbridge, MA. She attended Baypath Regional High School but graduated from Southbridge High School in 1986.

She is predeceased by her mother Carmen Viruet.

She is survived by her stepfather Pepe, her son Pedro Aponte and his wife Milissa Aponte, her son Jarius Gordon, her loving grandchildren Isaiah, Carolina and Lucas, her sister Jhoan Viruet-Jones and her husband Walter Jones, her brother Julio Cabrera and his companion Jill Stupik, her sister Maria Viruet and her nieces and nephews she adored; Jose “Lito,” Janexia, Dominique “Nique,” Michael, Johnathan, Julius, Elijah, Victor, Enrique, Javier, Ashley, Jaeliz and Jayden. 
She is also survived by her long time best friends; Damary, Lisandra, Carmen, Miriam, Nancy, Marilyn, Kim, Eileen, Yolanda, Karen and Denise. 
Wanda was a long time community activist, coach and mentor in the town of Southbridge influencing and shaping the lives of so many.
She worked for many years as an assistant property manager at Brookside Terrace and helped many more. She also spent some time at the Southbridge Housing Authority and as a Financial Consultant for Primerica.

She was always well known for her interior decorating skills and made sure everything she touched was beautiful and extravagant. 
Wanda had the power to bring people together; especially those that needed help, hope and encouragement. She saw the beauty in everyone and believed in the power of love, laughter and giving back. 

She always hoped to inspire and empower those around her. She was the one who could always see the sun through the rain; even when others couldn’t. As an organ donor she continues to inspire by giving the gift of life and healing and providing hope to those in need. 

Visitation will be held at Sancoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, on Thursday August 19, 2021 from 2:30-4:30PM. 
Funeral Services will be held at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge, MA (St. John Paul II Parish) on August 20, 2021 at 11:00am.

There will be a Celebration of Life Event at Maqui’s Bar and Function Hall, 61 Chestnut St., following the funeral services.
