Southbridge...Vincent E. Chenevert, 80, died Monday, November 24, after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Lucille T. (Hetu) Chenevert. They were married April 23, 1966.
He is also survived by his son Vincent E. Chenevert, Jr, and his wife Pamela of Rutland, his daughter Michelle Chenevert-Roche and her husband David of Florida, 5 grandchildren Amanda, Seth, Jen, Vinny, Alexander, and 6 great-grandchildren, Brett, Brady, Julian, Elijah, Kaylani, and Jiziah. Vinny leaves a brother John Fleming of Webster.
He was predeceased by a grandson Brett A. Chenevert, 2 brothers, Norman L. Chenevert and James K. Chenevert both of Webster, and a sister Evelyn J. Woods of Southbridge.
Vinny was born in Worcester, son of Elaine Benoit and was raised by his mother and step-father Alfred Donald Shackett. He was a longtime communicant of Notre Dame Church, where he served as a Eucharist Minister, was a CCD teacher, and a Boy Scout Cubmaster. He enjoyed reading, and mostly spending time with his family. He also served for many years in the Army National Guard.
He was a longtime custodian for the Town of Southbridge, working at the Jacob Edwards Library, and the Southbridge School Department, for 20 years, retiring in 2011.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 13th from 10-11AM, with a Prayer Service at 11AM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550. Donations in Vinny's memory may be made to the donor's choice of charity.
