Therese "Terrie" C. (Bachand) Bellerose

SOUTHBRIDGE...Therese "Terrie" C. (Bachand) Bellerose, 92, a lifelong resident of Southbridge, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law’s on Saturday, June 12, 2021, after an illness.  Her husband was the late Louis Bellerose who died in 1981.  She is survived by her daughter Diane and her husband Chris Golas of Southbridge.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including her niece Judy Bergeron of North Oxford, with whom she had a special relationship, her godchildren including Alfred Bergeron and Lauria Tiberii and her sister-in-law Mariette Bergeron of Charlton.  She was predeceased by her sister Rita (Charles) Chamberland, and her brothers, Sylvio (Veronica), Leodore, Br. Armand C.S.C., Lionel (Edna), and Raymond (Doris) Bachand.

Terrie was born in Southbridge, daughter of Alfred and Emelia (Lafleche) Bachand. She was a member of St. John Paul II Parish (Notre Dame Church), and formerly a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, a member of the YMCA Silver Sneakers Group, and a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels for five years.   

She was a clerk at the former Paquette Stationery Store in Southbridge, and later worked for 20 years as a cafeteria worker (the Ice Cream Lady) for the Southbridge Public Schools before retiring. Terrie enjoyed spending time with family & friends, especially her friend Grace Southall. She loved ice cream and her Saturday night beans and hot dogs. She especially enjoyed traveling with her daughter; their most memorable trip was going to Nashville TN and meeting her favorite country singer Vince Gill. She loved being a Memere to her grandcat, Boo.  She will be remembered by everyone she met as a sweet, kind, loving soul who always had a very positive outlook on life, despite her health challenges. We’d like to express our deepest gratitude to her caregivers, especially Iris Hernandez. 

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550 with a Mass at 11AM at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30AM, at the funeral home prior to the mass.  Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery, 746 N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge.
