Theodore Kwiatkowski Obituary

     Theodore Stephen Kwiatkowski, formerly of Southbridge, Massachusetts, passed away after a brief illness on August 21, 2022 at the age of 93. He was the son of Cecilia and Boleslaw Kwiatkowski and was born on December 16, 1928 in Southbridge. Ted was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves his loving wife of 72 years, Lorraine (Tremblay) Kwiatkowski.  They were married June 24, 1950.  He also leaves three loving children.  His son John Kwiatkowski of Fairfield, MA, his daughters Jane Baugh and her husband, Curt, of Columbia, MD;  and Lynn Kwiatkowski and her partner Neill Matheson of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren Shannon Baugh, Kelly Riley, Alex Baugh, Jade Pedro, and Katherine Kwiatkowski; great-grandchildren Sophia Baugh, and McKenna, Declan, and Aidan Riley; sisters-in-law Shirley Kwiatkowski and Rachel Tremblay; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Helen Kawas, Regina Moninski, and Theresa Howard (his twin sister), and his brothers Charles, Thaddeus, and Anthony Kwiatkowski.

     Ted lived in Southbridge for most of his life. He graduated from Cole Trade High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV, at Thule Air Force Base, Greenland, and at Beale Air Force Base, Yuba City, CA. While in the Air Force, he rose to the rank of Staff Sargent. He spent his career at the American Optical Company in Southbridge, where he worked as a cabinet maker, building custom furniture for optometrists. He was devoted to his family, spending most of his time with his children and other family members. Always eager to offer his help to others, he was an active parishioner of Notre Dame Church for many years, volunteering for many church activities, and with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul assisting homeless persons and others in need. He enjoyed carpentry/woodworking, hunting, ice skating, hockey, other outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends. He also was an avid traveler with his wife, Lorraine, having visited 48 states and several countries. Ted was a loving, compassionate, and kind person who will be missed dearly by all who loved him.

Calling hours will be held Monday, August 29, 2022, from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, from 9 – 10 am with a Mass at 10:30AM  at Notre Dame Church (now known as St. John Paul II Parish).  Burial will be at Notre Dame Cemetery, N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge, MA.
