Southbridge...Ruperto Velez, 83, died December 22, 2022, at Southbridge Rehab & Healthcare Center. His wife was the late Maria Molina Velez who died in 2015.
He is survived by his stepsons Hector Rivera of Worcester, Josue Rivera of Taunton, a step-daughter Maribel Rivera Mercado of Bellingham. He also leaves his brothers Bartolo Velez of Southbridge, Pedro Velez of Blackwood, NJ, and 2 sisters Jesusa Velez of Somerdale, NJ, and Rosa Colon of Southbridge, 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased his son Ruperto Velez, Jr. of Mayaguez, PR, who died in May 2022.
He was born in Maricao, PR, son of Pedro Velez and Genoveva Rivera, and has lived here for many years. He was a retired machine operator from Cranston Prints Works in Webster where he worked for several years.
He enjoyed playing Dominos, and was an active church member, but most enjoyed spending time with his family.
A graveside service at 11AM, with Pastor Esteban Carrasco, will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at OakRidge Cemetery, Southbridge. Sansoucy Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.
