Ronald M. Giovanello

Ronald “Mr. G” Giovanello, of Brimfield, Massachusetts, passed away after battling a long illness.  He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, laughter, and unwavering faith. Born in 1943 in Brockton, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of Armande and Adelgita (Tiberii) Giovanello.

Ronald was predeceased by his brothers, Armand and Bruce Giovanello. He is survived by his loving children, Samantha Bechta and her husband Adam Bechta, and Enrico Giovanello and his wife Jamie Giovanello; his five cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Jake, Ross, Henry, and Avery; his loving nephew, Nicholas Giovanello; his loving niece, Angela Giovanello; and his sister-in-law, Johanna Giovanello. He also leaves behind long time companion, Dolores Jackson; and many cousins and countless friends, including his best “buddy,” Bryant Montigney, who was like family to him.

A graduate of Wells High School, Ronald went on to earn his college degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and later a master’s degree from Worcester State University. Known affectionately as “Mr. G,” he devoted his life to education, where he profoundly influenced and inspired generations of students. He also served as a mentor and coach, shaping not only students’ academic paths but their character and confidence as well. He was more than a teacher—he was a mentor, a role model, and for many, a steady presence who offered guidance, encouragement, and care both inside and outside the classroom. His generosity extended beyond school walls, often opening his home and heart to those in need.

Ronald was a patriot.  He adored America and talking politics.  He also had a deep love for life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He was an exceptional athlete in his younger years, excelling in football, basketball and baseball, with talent that nearly led him to a professional baseball career. He carried that same passion into his lifelong love of sports, as well as fishing, golf, and cooking—activities he cherished, especially when shared with family and friends.

A devoted father, Ronald loved his children deeply and took immense pride in their lives. He was a loyal and joyful friend who celebrated others fully and lived with a spirit of generosity and warmth that drew people to him. Ronald lived life in his own unorthodox way, and those who knew him loved him all the more for it.

Above all, Ronald was a man of strong faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ. 

His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the stories and love he gave so freely.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 6th, from 10am to 12pm at Sansoucy Funeral Home, Southbridge, along with a funeral service thereafter.  Burial will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations or acts of kindness may be made in Ronald’s memory to the building fund for Quaboag Church of Brookfield Massachusetts.
