Southbridge/Ware ~ Roland R. Laroche, 96, died peacefully, while living with his daughter and son-in-law in Ware, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Born in Southbridge on May 2, 1929, Roland was the son of the late Romeo and Rose Alma (McDonald) Laroche. Roland was a lifelong resident of Southbridge, only moving to Ware to be with his daughter and her family. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1947-1952. . Roland proudly served the town of Southbridge for 27 years as a Firefighter, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant, in 1988. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. Above all, Roland's greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
Roland's wife of 57 years, Doris L. (Blanchet) Laroche, died January 12, 2011. They were married on April 11, 1953. He is survived by his daughter, Louise Bachand and her husband, Michael, of Ware; two sons: Dennis Laroche and his wife, Donna, of Douglas, and Donald Laroche and his wife, Cheryl, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great- great-grandchild. Roland is also survived by his former daughter-in-law, Judith Laroche, of Dudley. He was predeceased by his sisters Theresa Leduc who died in 2022, and Pauline Marchessault who died in 1996.
Calling hours for Roland will be Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 6-8PM, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 28, at 11AM in St. Mary's Church, 247 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, MA. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery, 746 N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge, MA 01550.
