Woodstock ~ Roger E. Bedard, 84, died Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Matulaitis Rehab and Skilled Care Center in Putnam, CT, after an illness.
Born January 12, 1941, in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Richard M. and Leonie E. (Descoteau) Bedard. Roger was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for many years as a machinist for Simsak Machine Shop in Southbridge, MA. He enjoyed woodworking, baseball, canoeing, yard sales, and hiking.
Roger's wife, Marilyn (Georgio) Bedard, died April 17, 1990. He is survived by his daughter, Monica Richard, of Woodstock, CT; 3 grandchildren: Ryan Plummer, Jessica Wetherbee and her husband, Joe, and Samantha Rock; 4 great-grandchildren: Bentley Wetherbee, Paisley Wetherbee, Malakai Moon, and Alijah Moon; his sister, Janet Ross of San Diego, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, David Bedard and Richard Bedard.
A calling period will be Friday, January 17, 2025 from 9:45-10:30AM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge, MA. Burial will be in Barlow Cemetery in Woodstock, CT, at a later date.
