Southbridge...Robert "Bob" P. Blanchette, 80, died April 30th, at BayState Medical Center after a brief illness.
He leaves his 2 sons Thomas Blanchette and Jaycen Blanchette both of Southbridge, 2 Godchildren: Roberta Blake and Roy Fournier, and his aunt Alice Ravenelle of Southbridge.
Bob was born in Southbridge, son of the late Edward and Mary L. (Fournier) Blanchette, and lived many years in Sturbridge before relocating to Southbridge. He attended the former Notre Dame School, and after his education, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps serving in Vietnam, and was a Purple Heart Recipient.
He retired from the Massachusetts Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening, but most of all, spending time with his sons.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 6th, from 9:30-11:00AM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge. Graveside service will follow with Military Honors at New Notre Dame Cemetery, 746 N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project.
