Richard Reddick Obituary

Dudley ~ RICHARD M. “Rock” REDDICK, 49, of Dudley, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He was the loving husband of his wife, Brandi Reddick (Greene).

Born in Southbridge, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Elizabeth ‘Betty’ A. Jolie-Reddick.

He was a Police Officer that was very dedicated to his work, and was often referred to as a cop’s cop. He served on the Town of Southbridge and Town of Charlton Police Departments for a total of 23 years. During that time, he served as a K9 officer. For a long time, he served with his Belgian Malinois named Mika. After her retirement, he went on to work with his Belgian Malinois, Pablo, until his retirement as well. He was forever dedicated to his work, consistently ensuring public safety for the towns he served and those surrounding.

When he was away from work, he was a family man through and through. Rich always enjoyed being able to spend time with his family, taking them on trips and taking interest in their hobbies as well. He never failed to follow his kids interest in the sports they played, and ensured that his family would always have a home cooked meal at any time of day or night. Even during his times when he was away from work or had time off, he would always take joy in training with his dogs and/or spending time with them. Along with this, he loved to have his dogs accompany him whenever he would take a trip to the beach or a simple walk in nature. On a more recent account, he found a love for decorating, especially in his house that he turned into a loving home with his family.

When he was in high school, he found a love and an extreme talent for sports, especially hockey and football, being one of the best players on both teams. He found his favorite teams to be the Boston Bruins hockey team and the Alabama football team. He also found frequent enjoyment in college football. What trumps all of this was his lovable and caring personality. He took special care of those he cared for, consistently giving one-hundred and ten percent to keeping his loved ones happy. He was a good friend to many, and left behind his legacy with all those who cared about him to carry it forward.

Rich was the loving father of six children, Valentine Reddick, Madison McNamara, Hailey McNamara, Kaydence Derany, Nicholous Derany and Brayden Derany. His love for his children includes attending sporting events, band competitions, karaoke with his family, and providing his endless support. His love for his kids could be compared to winning the lottery, and everything he did was out of good intent for his children. He especially enjoyed playing Mario Party with Val, listening to Jump Around by House of Pain with Maddy, making jokes with Hailey, playing pretend with Kay, showing Nic how to be the best K9 handler, and enabling Bray’s love for football by playing pass with him.

Rich also leaves his cousins: Sherrie Langlois of W. Brookfield, MA, Lance Cotton of California, Kelly and her husband Jason Cantara of Charlton, MA, his Godson Owen Cotton of CT, Briana Cotton of MA, Nicholas and his wife Annie of MA, Jonathan Cantara of MA, Zachary Langlois and Ryan Langlois both of MA.
