Southbridge...Rafaela Orta Linares, 70, a longtime resident of Southbridge Rehab & Healthcare Center, died January 11, 2025, at UMass Memorial/Harrington. Her husband was the late Jorge Rodriguez, who died in 1991.
She is survived by her son Jorge Rodriguez, Jr of Southbridge, and Julia Rodriguez and her husband Miguel Rolon of CT., and 10 grandchildren: Karen and Kayla Gutierrez, Daisha, Tatiana, Laylah and Kayla Rodriguez, Jimmy Jones, Yaret and Jonnmanuel Ramos, Jorge Rodriguez Orta,3rd, and 6 great-grandchildren: Yexian Rosario, Yeiryanis Pagan, Ioan Bello, Anthem Pagan, Yenylah Bello, and Mael Zayas. She also leaves her brothers: MIguel Orta of Puerto Rico, Pedro Orta of Southbridge, and 3 sisters: Adeline Orta, Rosa Orta, and Matilde Orta all of Southbridge, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Maria Rodriguez who died December 28, 2024, and her sister Maria Orta (1991), and her brothers: Ramon Orta (1991), Luis Orta (1994), Rafael Orta (2002).
She was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, October 24, 1954, daughter of Rafael Orta (1991) and Haydee Linares (2003), and has lived here for many years. She retired after 17years from Aero Company due to illness. Prior to that, she worked as an assembler at the American Optical Company.
Rafaela enjoyed painting, word searchers, and Bible Study, and loved spending time with her family.
Calling hours will be Friday, January 17, from 4:30-6:30PM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550. Burial will be private.
