Peter J. Maynard

Charlton ~ Peter J. Maynard, 68, passed away on October 8, 2025 peacefully, at UMass Memorial Hospital's University Campus in Worcester, surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

A lifelong resident of Charlton, Peter was born in Southbridge, MA on July 4, 1957.  He was the son of the late Raymond R. and Dorothy G. (Jacobs) Maynard.  He leaves his daughter, Melannie Maynard and his son-in-law, R.J. Vilandre, of Southbridge;and his 2 beautiful granddaughters, Jemma and Jewel Vilandre.  Peter also leaves his partner, Doreen Dean, and their dog, Penney; his brothers Joe Maynard of Southbridge, and John Maynard of Oklahoma; and his sisters Robyn Muetterties and her husband, Bob, of Boxford, MA, and Pamela Piehl and her husband, Butch, of Southbridge.  He was predeceased by his brother Ronnie Maynard, who died in 1974, and his sister Susan Miller-Maynard who died July 21, 2025.

Peter's family owned the former Dresser Hill Farm in Charlton, and he worked alongside his family members at the farm for many years.  He later worked for J. Taylor Paving for 28 years as an operator-truck driver.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his Road King, and his work and family.  

There will be a graveside funeral service for Peter on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 1PM in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton, MA.  Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
