Charlton/Southbridge.. Paul W. Bergeron, 83, died Saturday, November 9, at Baystate Medical Center, after an illness.  He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Mariette (Bellerose) Bergeron, whom he married on June 27, 1964.

He also leaves two sons, Alfred Bergeron of South Grafton, Peter Bergeron and his wife Susan of Nashua, NH, two daughters Judith Bergeron of North Oxford and Ruth Mazzeo of Tucson, Arizona, twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews including his God-daughter Diane and her husband Christopher Golas of Southbridge, and his sister-in-law Therese (Bachand) Bellerose of Southbridge, and a sister Lorraine Hockaday and her husband James of Jacksonville, Arkansas.  He was predeceased by his brother Edward Bergeron, and a sister Anita Kirk (Aurora Baxter).

He was born in Southbridge, son of Edward G. and Rita R. (Lapierre) Bergeron and lived most of his life in Southbridge before moving to The Overlook in Charlton. He graduated from Notre Dame High School Class of 1955, the Oblate College and Seminary in Bar Harbor, Maine, he received his BS from North Adams State College, his Master's Degree in Education from Worcester State College, and a Master's Degree in Psychology from Anna Maria College in Paxton.

He was a lifelong member of Notre Dame Church (St. John Paul II Parish) where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and RCIA Team Member. He was a math teacher at Bay Path Vocational Technical High School for 36 years, retiring in 1999. He was the founder of the Bay Path Teacher's Association. Paul was also a member of the Massachusetts and National Teachers Association. He was a volunteer driver for The American Cancer Society for many years.

He loved spending time with his family. In his younger years playing board games, yard games, going to the beach, amusement parks and movies, especially Star Wars. He had many friends at The Overlook. They enjoyed exercise classes, walking club, playing cribbage and LCR, going on day trips and house entertainment. He was also a member of their brew crew. He loved to hug and be hugged. He will be dearly missed.

Calling hours will be held from 9:00-10:30AM, Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA followed by the funeral Mass at 11AM at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.
