Patricia A. (Reed) Proulx

Patricia A (Reed) Proulx of Sturbridge passed away with her family by her side after a short illness at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the age of 71.

Pat was born on February 24, 1951 to Robert C. and Bertha (Paul) Reed in Southbridge. She met the love of her life and best friend Gerard (Gerry) Proulx of Sturbridge in 1973 and we were married June 1, 1974. They were together for 49 years and married for 48. She also leaves two sons and daughter-in-laws; Jason R. and wife Renee (Mongeon) Proulx of Sturbridge and Joshua R. and wife Kim (Maxwell) Proulx of Brooklyn, CT. She was Nana to three grandchildren; Everett and Jaxon Proulx of Sturbridge and Lexi Proulx of Brooklyn, CT. She leaves one sister Elizabeth (Reed) Marshall of Fitchburg. One sister-in-law, Suzanne Proulx of Chambersburg, PA. She leaves two nephews and their wives; Christopher Proulx and Varya Siegel Cohen of Ithaca, NY and Jeffrey and Andrea (Allison) Proulx of Chambersburg, PA.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, grandparents, in-laws Claudio and Georgette (Morin) Proulx, brother-in-laws George C. Proulx, George (Jay) Marshall and nephew Robert Marshall.

Pat was a graduate of Tantasqua Regional High School, Class of 1969. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, Class of 1973 from Worcester State University. She began her teaching career as a Title 1 Reading teacher at the Wales Elementary School, Wales, MA from 1973-1978. She then began teaching third grade at the Holland Elementary School, Holland, MA in 1978, where she remained until her retirement in 2010.

The family wants to thank the ICU staff at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester including the staff at 1 West, especially Dr. Jesse Coleman and the team at VNA Palliative and Hospice care for their empathetic care of Pat and kindness shown to the family.

Calling hours for Pat will be Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 4-6pm at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. Masks are required in the funeral home and church.

Pat’s mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday June 6, 2022 at Notre Dame Church of St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St, Southbridge at 11:00am. Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery, Paige Hill, Southbridge.
