Southbridge...Orlando (Andy) Aponte, 48, of Southbridge, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020 from a sudden illness due to COVID-19 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Andy was born on January 18, 1972 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico and was later a permanent resident of Southbridge, Massachusetts. He worked as a foreman supervisor at Rand Whitney and has been an employee there for 26 years.
He is survived by his mother, Inez Melendez, wife of 25 years, Windy Aponte, daughter and son, Kelsey and Elian Aponte, as well as two grandchildren, 11 brothers and sisters, 11 brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other close family friends.
Andy loved to be around family and friends, mainly because it gave him an excuse to cook. He loved cars, especially Jeeps, and was a big fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
He was deeply loved and his memory will be forever cherished by so many people. He set a fine example of strength and endurance during his time battling this illness.
Due to current conditions during this pandemic there will be no services however, the burial will be private and held at 10 A.M., on Tuesday April 28, 2020 at Saint Hedwig Cemetery and pallbearers will be Elian Aponte, Carlos Aponte, Pedro Aponte, Antonio Aponte, Edwin Alvarado, Gilberto Alvarado, and Geraldo Alvarado.
Arrangements were made under the direction of Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, Massachusetts.
