Warren...One of the last Good ol' Boys Michael Dembowski passed away on January 10th, 2022. Michael was born on January 31st, 1948 in Parsberg, Germany, the 11 lb. firstborn child of Leokardia Garbat Dembowski and Waclaw Dembowski who were displaced POWs from Poland as a devastating result of the Holocaust. He came into this world tragically being born dead in a field tent but was revived by the warmth of a wood stove and his mother's love.
The eldest of 9 Michael attended primary school in Southbridge, MA until entering the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He was honorably discharged from the Corps a short time later when his conscience prevented him from following given orders. He worked a variety of jobs in the area including Russell Harrington, Hydes Manufacturing, California Fruit, and Dana Corporation until ultimately becoming a private contractor known for concrete, masonry, and eventually demolition. Michael retired to the Warren, MA area working part-time as a bus monitor for Tantasqua & Union 61 school district.
Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Hall Dembowski of nearly 34 years, and their six daughters; Charlie Anne Rudman, Sonyia LaRoe, Cindy Bissonnette, Jenilee Valis, Laura Lee Dembowski, and Corina Dembowski along with their spouses who he was extremely grateful for, 11 grandchildren who were his world, Cierra, Emma, Noah, Kyle, Mikayla, Christopher, Amanda, Alex, Genesis, Olivebelle, and Michael. Michael is also leaves his sisters Lidia Bousquet, Elizabeth Fournier, Barbara Beausoleil, and Irene Nordman as well as his brothers Henry, John, and George, their spouses and many many nieces and nephews. Michael is predeceased by his parents and his brother Peter.
An honorary member of the Southbridge Polish-American Club he could regularly be found in the local coffee shops sharing stories and tales from his escapades as an immigrant youth in town. He loved cooking, playing cards, hiking, entertaining friends & family, long drives, and singing. Michael had a long-standing association with the Watchtower & Tract Society of Jehovah's Witnesses.
The family will be having a private viewing and services for Michael's extended family and closest friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm with a service following on Saturday, January 15th, 2022. Please be considerate of our loved ones by wearing a mask.
