Marlene Connie Meilleur of Monson passed away on December 5, 2021 at the age of 66, surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Born to Roger and Monique Parker on March 25, 1955 in the Province of Quebec, Marlene and her parents moved to Ludlow, Massachusetts when she was a young child. As the oldest of six children, Marlene adored her brothers and sisters and was like a second mom to them. Although her parents and siblings moved back to Canada shortly after her 19th birthday, Marlene remained close to her family with yearly visits to Canada, and her younger siblings would often come stay with her in the US during the summer.
After graduating from Ludlow High School, Marlene met her future husband, Larry, through a mutual friend. The two hit it off quickly and were soon engaged. They started a beautiful family of their own, which included their son, Jason, and their daughters, Amanda and Danielle. Marlene was extremely close to her children, and she had a special relationship with each of them. Larry and Marlene were also very close, and remained devoted to each other throughout their 47 year marriage.
Aside from her family, Marlene had a successful career in billing and coding and medical records. She began her career working for Ludlow Hospital and later she started her own business, MCM Billing and Coding, which she ran for several years before retiring.
In her spare time, Marlene enjoyed reading, cooking, and baking. She was an exceptional cook who liked to experiment with recipes, which she often stored not in a cookbook, but in her head. She also loved animals and doted on her pets as though they were her children.
Marlene’s most impressive talent was her ability to treat everyone she knew like family. She was a second mom to her nieces, nephews, and all of her children's friends. Family gatherings often consisted of not just family, but also friends who she had adopted as family. Everyone who knew her experienced her kindness and love through smiles, hugs, laughter, and food.
Without a doubt, Marlene’s proudest accomplishments were her grandchildren, Julian, Alana, Liam, and Lylia. No one could escape a conversation with Marlene without hearing about her amazing babies. She was truly obsessed.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Larry Meilleur of Monson, her son, Jason Meilleur of Monson, her daughter Amanda Nobbs and her son-in-law Ronald Nobbs of Monson, her daughter, Danielle Meilleur of Springfield, her four grandchildren, Julian Nobbs and Liam Nobbs, and Alana Ellis and Lylia Ellis, all of Monson, and her beloved dog, Cody. In addition, Marlene leaves behind her five siblings Denis Parker, Michael Parker, Marc-Paul Parker, Lynn Parker, all of Canada, and Liza Parker of California. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Jeanine Staples of Monson, her brother-in-law, Ronald Meilleur of Palmer, and several loving nieces and nephews.
Marlene was a true matriarch and her passing has created a hole in her family that can never be filled. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, P.O.Box 55257, Boston, MA 02205-8626
