Southbridge..Madelène Y. Proulx, 92, a lifelong resident, died Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Hartford Hospital.
Maddy was born in Southbridge, November 26, 1932, daughter of Olivier and Claudia (Lamoureux) Proulx. She was a lifelong member of Notre Dame Church (St. John Paul II Parish) and taught CCD for 53 years for St. Mary's and Notre Dame Churches. She was a teacher in the Southbridge School System for over 37 years, retiring in 1991, where she taught Americanization Courses for many years. She was also an Associate of the Sisters of the Assumption. She graduated from the former Mary E. Wells High School, Class of 1950, she received her BA Degree in 1954 from Worcester State Colllege, (now Worcester State University), and her Master's Degree from Boston College in 1960.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Roger, Paul, Charles, Olivier (Butch), and her sister Suzanne Seremet, her sisters-in-law, Constance Proulx, Gloria Proulx, and brother-in-law Walter Seremet.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge from 9:30-10:30AM. The funeral Mass at 11AM will follow at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge. Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery, 746 N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge.
