Charlton...Lionel R. Cournoyer, 80, died August 14, 2024, at UMass Memorial Health/Harrington after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Monique (Cimon) Cournoyer. They were married July 25, 1964. He also leaves 2 sons Daniel Cournoyer and his wife Tracy of Simsbury, CT, Brian Cournoyer and his wife Melissa of Charlton, and his 4 grandchidren, Nathan, Zachary, Abigail and Lucas.
He was born in Worcester, January 4, 1944, son of Narcisse R. and Gertrude (Plouffe) Cournoyer, spent most of his life in Southbridge. Lee was a member of St. Joseph Church in Charlton and a longtime former member of Notre Dame Church. He was a graduate of the former Cole Trade High School, Class of 1964. He was a retired machinist working at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT for over 44 years. He enjoyed camping, his winter home in Florida, playing cards, and traveling, and bingo. Most of all he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren, often attending his grandson Lucas' baseball games.
A calling hour from 10-11AM, will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA. A prayer service in the funeral home will be held at 11AM. Burial will be private. Luncheon reception to follow at Cohasse Country Club in Southbridge and all are welcome.
