Leonard J. Ethier

Southbridge ~ Leonard J. Ethier, 89, died Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center following an illness.
Lenny's wife of 64 years, Cecile M. (Bibeau) Ethier, died June 9, 2019.  He is survived by their 3 sons: David Ethier and his wife, Margot, of Ocala, FL; Todd Ethier and his wife, Lynn, of Southbridge; and Christopher Ethier and his wife, Anne, of Dudley; 7 grandchildren: Brian Ethier, Ryan Ethier, Kevin Ethier, Nicole Ethier, Tyler Ethier, Christopher Ethier and Matthew Ethier;  2 great-grandchildren: Haylee and Brayden; and his brother, Kenneth Ethier.
Born in Southbridge on April 12, 1932, he was the son of the late Armand and Blanche (Morrissey) Ethier.  Lenny was a proud lifelong resident of Southbridge.  He graduated from the former Mary E. Wells High School.  He retired from the former American Optical Company where he was employed as a business service manager for over 42 years.  He enjoyed playing racquet ball at the YMCA in his younger years; he also enjoyed camping at Old Orchard Beach, Maine.  He was very proud of his family, and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, but above all else, Lenny was a loving, attentive and devoted husband.  
His Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at St. Mary's Church, 263 Hamilton Street, Southbridge.  Burial will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge is handling arrangements.  The family requests in lieu of flowers that you kindly consider a memorial donation to St. John Paul II Parish (Notre Dame Church), 279 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.
