Sturbridge...Kurian A. Tharakan, 85, died Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, after an illness. He leaves his wife Rose K. Tharakan, MD, to whom he had been married to for 52 years and has lived in Sturbridge, MA for almost 50 years!
He was the founder of the South Indian Asian Association of Boston, MA in 1970. He was an amazingly sweet man who treated everyone with respect and love. Mr. Kurian Tharakan is also a devout Catholic who came to church every weekend.
He is survived by his 2 sons: Abraham Tharakan of Worcester, and David Tharakan, MD, of San Antonio, Texas, 2 grandsons Joshua and Jonathan Tharakan of San Antonio.
He had a BA in Accouting, and was employed in banking for most of his career. He also as a hobby enjoyed repairing clocks and watches.
The funeral Mass will be Monday, October 26, 2020, at 10AM at St. Anne's Church, 16 Church Street, (please meet directly at the church, and masks will be required) Fiskdale, MA 01518. Burial will follow at St. Anne's Cemetery, Arnold Road, Sturbridge, MA. A calling hour at the funeral home will be held on Sunday, October 25th, from 4-5PM.
