Juan B. Rivera

Southbridge...Juan B. Rivera, 84, a longtime resident, died Friday, April 12, 2024, at Southbridge Rehab & Health Care Center.  His wife was the late Hilda (Rodriguez) Rivera who died April 25, 2007.

He is survived by his 5 sons: Juan B. Rivera, Jr. of Florida, Luis Rivera of Southbridge, Hector Rivera of Worcester, Robert Rivera of Worcester, and Edwin Rivera of New Beford, and also 4 grandchildren: Justina Rivera, Tiffany Desrosier, Cayla Hurley, and Bella Rivera, and 3 great-grandchildren: Silas Hitchcock, Emery Hitchcock, and Jo-El Fernandez.

Mr. Rivera was born in San Sebastian, PR, son of Francisco Rivera and Giecia Mercado. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, and retired as a glass cutter from the American Optical Co, where he worked for 19 years, and also had worked at the Publick House for 22 years.  He enjoyed fishing, buying lottery tickets, the Boston Red Sox, and the Three Stooges.  Most of all he enjoyed his family, and was most proud of his home.

His calling hours will be Thursday, April 18th, from 5-7PM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge.  His funeral Mass will be held at 11AM, Friday, April 19, at St. Mary's Church, (St. John Paul II Parish) 247 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
