Juan Ramon Rivera

Juan Ramon Rivera, 91, died Thursday, December 5th, at Southbridge Rehab & Health Care Center. His wife was the late Nemencia Aviles Rivera, who died in 2015.

He is survived by his children, Heriberta Patterson of California, Mary Lamothe of Southbridge, Robert Rivera of Oxford, Richard Rivera of Connecticut, and many siblings: Heriberta Marerro, Candida Arvelo, Maria Cruz, Carmen Arvelo, Maria Rivera, Lucy Rivera,  Marcelino Rivera, and his half siblings: Ada Rivera , Aida L. Rivera of Puerto Rico, Haydee Rivera of Florida, Irma Rivera, Lidya Rivera of Florida, Carmen I. Rivera of Florida, Wanda Torres of Florida, Angel Manuel Rivera (Eggo), Jose Ramon Aponte of Palmer. He also leaves many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, son of Gervasio and Maria (Colon) Rivera and has lived here for many years.  He was a member of Saint Mary's Church.  He retired as a machinist at the American Optical Company, where he worked for many years.

He enjoyed raising birds, gardening, and dancing, but loved spending time with his family. 

The funeral will be held December 12, 2024, from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, with a Mass at 11AM at Saint Mary's Church, 263 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.  Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 11, at the funeral home from 5-7PM.  Burial will be at Saint Mary's Cemetery following the mass.
