Holland...Joseph J. Gilfoy, 70, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at UMass Memorial Medical Center/University Campus after an illness.

He is survived by his daughters Tiffany Gilfoy and her fiance Bryan Madrid of Holland, and Crystal-Lynn Ellard and her husband Taylor of Michigan, two grandchildren Breyanna Sevieri and Kiara Jenkins.  He also leaves 4 brothers: James Gilfoy and his wife Hannalore of Kentucky, Thomas Gilfoy and his wife Christine of Webster, Francis Gilfoy and his fiancee Rhonda of Worcester, Edward Gilfoy and his wife Michelle of Spencer, and 3 sisters: Deborah and her husband Albert Plaud of Worcester, Evelyn Lawrence of Connecticut, and Cheryl Fortier of Webster, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a special sister-in-law Michele Blakley of Prospect, CT.He was predeceased by 2 brothers John Gilfoy and Michael Gilfoy.

Joe was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph A. and Evelyn A. (Mahan) Gilfoy and lived many years in Southbridge, and Michigan. He was a graduate of South High School, and from Quinsigamond College.  He was an US Army veteran and also served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.  Most of all he was a proud member of the Southbridge Police Department for 28 yrs, retiring in January 2010.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, from 4-6PM.  Burial will be held privately.
