Webster - Joseph J. Bonnette, 103, of Webster, and formerly of Southbridge, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2020 following a brief period of declining health. He would have been 104 in April.
He was born in Southbridge, the son of Joseph H. and Georgianne (Castonguay) Bonnette. His wife, Rita, predeceased him in 1985, and his long-time companion, Claire Bazinet, in 2008. He was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Lisa Louise Caouette; 3 brothers, Paul, Armand, and Larry; and 4 sisters, Gertrude, Loretta, Helen, and Yvonne.
He leaves 2 daughters, Louise, and her husband, Richard Caouette, of Southbridge, and Lucille, and her husband, David Carter, of Smyrna, DE; 5 grandchildren, James Caouette and his companion, Kirstin Powers, of Southbridge, Daniel Caouette and his wife, Erica, of Sturbridge, Stephen J. Feige and his companion, Katherine Dahl, of Cambridge, Christine Denaker of Dayville, CT, and Matthew Carter of Seattle, WA.
He also leaves 3 step-grandchildren, Cherie Carter and her fiancé, Jonathan Sweadner, of Walkinville, MD, David Carter and his wife, Lisette, of Oxford, MA, and Carrie Stacie and her husband, Eric, of Lugoff, SC; and 7 great-grandchildren, Teagan, Carson, and Leeanna Caouette, Olivia, Colin, and Austin Denaker, and Adisyn Makara. He also leaves several step great-grandchildren.
To all of them, he was affectionally called "PEP".
He also leaves one Godchild, Alice Ravenelle, of Southbridge; and several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Mr. Bonnette retired in 1981 as an export supervisor at American Optical Co. in Southbridge, where he worked for 48 years. He was a Quarter Century member, and at age 100, was the oldest active member of the Southbridge Senior Bowling League.
In younger years, he enjoyed sailing, water and snow skiing, hunting, fishing, playing pool, and golf. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family.
He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish in Webster.
A calling hour will be Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA, from 8:30-9:30AM. A Graveside Funeral Service will follow at 10AM at New Notre Dame Cemetery, N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge. Donations in his memory can be made to Sacred Heart Parish, 14 E.
