John Mar Vidal Johnson

John Mar Vidal Johnson, 29, died March 6th after a sudden illness.

John was born in Rio Piedras, PR, December 6, 1993, and lived most of his life in Southbridge, Ma. He graduated from Bay Path Regional Vocational High School as a part of their Carpentry Trade Program. While in high school, he played basketball and excelled at football, making the varsity team as a freshman and being a part of 2 Super Bowl teams with their program, winning one of them in 2012.

He is well known in Southbridge for working at Big Bunny Market for several years, and recently, he worked as an electrician and was just months away from becoming licensed. He also recently passed his real estate license exam, showing that he was always willing to put in the work needed to succeed. John is best known for being extremely humble, generous and caring, always willing to put others wants and needs before his own. Many remember him as being a stand-up human being and usually the hardest worker in the room. 

He is survived by his parents, Juan Vidal and Soranlly Johnson Pena of the Dominican Republic, a brother Ariel De La Cruz and his fiancée Diana Gonzalez of Jarrell, Tx, and their children: Avah, Milani, Arianna, Maribel, and his sisters Cristina Johnson of Winthrop and Mariela Ferrer Johnson of S. Boston, and his nephew Johriel Martinez. He leaves his cousin Angelica Capia Johnson of Miami, and his aunt Mayra Johnson of the Dominican Republic. John also had a plethora of friends that he considered family, including George Rivera of Southbridge and the O’Leary and Paul families of Southbridge as well, who all had an impact in John’s life.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 12th, 2023 at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550 from 4:30pm-6:00pm. A prayer service will be held at  6PM with Pastor Esteban Carrasco officiating.
