Southbridge... Jean F. (Napierata) Matte, 89, of Therese Avenue, and formerly a longtime resident of Everett Street, died Sunday, July 5th, at UMass Memorial Medical Center/University Campus.
Her husband of 40 years, Normand C. Matte died in 1996. Her fiancé James Siciliano died in 2021.
She leaves her son Dan (Daniel) Matte and his wife Tammy of Gardner, and 3 grandchildren: Emily MacKenzie Matte and her fiancé Matt McGovern of Ludlow, Joseph Daniel Matte and his fianceé Aya Miller of Worcester, Fallon Elizabeth Matte of South Boston, and step-grandson DeAndre Maxwell of South Boston.
Jean was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Theodore Napierata who died in 1996, and Frances (Bovat) Napierata who died in 2001, but has lived in Southbridge for most of her life. She graduated from the former Saint Louis High School in Webster, the Class of 1954. Jean was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Southbridge where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and Alter Server.
She worked for her son at M&M Cleaning and Restoration, retiring several years ago, and had previously worked for 17 years at Southbridge Anesthesia. She also years ago was the Medical Secretary for Dr. Fritz Sulzberger, and worked as a Billing and Admitting clerk at Harrington Memorial Hospital.
Jean enjoyed playing cards with her friends on Thursday's, and enjoyed golfing, reading and traveling.
The funeral Mass will be held at Noon, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Saint Mary's Church, 247 Hamilton Street, Southbridge. Calling hours will be held at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, prior to the Mass from 9:30-11:30AM. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge.
