Jacob Douglas “Jake” Lazo, 37, passed away at home on Monday, February 9, 2026.Born in Southbridge on July 19, 1988, Jake was the beloved son of Scott S. Lazo and the late Lisa D. Lazo. He graduated from Southbridge High School, Class of 2007, where he played football and was a member of St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church. Jake worked for many years alongside his family at Lazo Construction, Scott Lazo Construction, and Lazo's Cafe, then went on to earn his associate's degree from Quinsigamond Community College in 2024. He also dedicated many years to coaching and mentoring Pop Warner football players.
As the only son, Jake is survived by his four sisters and their families: Elizabeth Lazo Singh and her husband Dexter Singh; Ashley Lazo and her husband Troy Rochester; Samantha Lazo and her husband Fadric Toro; and Hannah Lazrin and her wife Demitria Lazrin. Jake was a proud and loving uncle to his nephews Solomon Lazo Singh, Sebastian Lazo Singh, Sammi Lazo Singh, and Salvator Lazo Singh, and to his niece Zuri Lazo. He is also survived by his brother from another mother, Jose Machado and his wife, Nicole Machado, and their three boys as well as his longtime girlfriend, Iesha Gonzales-Loconto, and her wonderful son, Hunter Perry, whom Jake loved dearly.
Beyond his familial roles, Jake was an incredible friend to many. Whether at school, at work, on the football field, or in any gathering, he was known for his infectious smile, his generous spirit, and his signature bear hugs. He had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Jake will surely live on in the countless memories shared with those who loved him deeply.
Calling hours for Jake will be Monday, February 16, 2026, from 4-7PM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge. Burial will be private.
