Irene P. (Huard) Soter

Southbridge...Irene P. (Huard) Lamontagne Soter, 93, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Quaboag Rehab & Skilled Care Center.

Her husband was the late Alexander Soter who died in 1981.  Her first husband was Charles Lamontagne who died in 1972.

She is survived by her sons: Paul and his wife Diane Lamontagne of Sturbridge, Charles and his wife  Linda Lamontagne of Manchester, CT, and Mark and his wife Maeng Lamontagne of W. Haven, CT, 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She also leaves 3 brothers: Leo A. Huard of Southbridge, Donald J. Huard and his wife Edith of Sturbridge, and Gerald and his wife Diane of State College, PA, and 3 sisters: Joan J. Hefner, Lucille and her husband Robert Thomas, and Jeanne C. Casey-Arsenault all of Southbridge, her daughter-in-law Patty Lamontagne of Sturbridge, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son David Lamontagne who died November 25, 2024, her granddaughter Nicole Lamontagne (daughter of Charles and Linda), her sister Theresa (Huard) Barthel, who died in 2019, and her longtime companion Roland "Popeye" Lamoureux who passed in 2002.

She worked for many years as a nurse's aide at the former Providence House Nursing Home (Southbridge Rehab & Healthcare Center).  Irene enjoyed reading, needlepoint and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be private. Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
