Hampton, NH/Stoughton, MA...Gertrude T. (Biron) Parenteau, 97, formerly of Southbridge/Sturbridge, died December 11, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
Her husband was the late Leon Parenteau who died in 1972.
She is survived by her son Paul Parenteau of Stoughton, and daughter Suzanne (Parenteau) and her husband Anthony Hanscome of Hampton, NH, 2 granddaughters Leslie Collins and her husband Steve of Grapevine, TX, Stephanie Bilonick and her husband Ricardo of Chestnut Hill, MA, and great-grandson Ricardo Bilonick III.
Mrs. Parenteau was born in Southbridge, daughter of Omer and Alma (Girard) Biron and lived many years in Southbridge and Sturbridge. She was a lifelong member of Notre Dame Church for 85 years, where she regularly attended the Saturday Mass at 4PM. She worked for over 30 years at the American Optical Company as a prescription lab technician, and later worked as a sales clerk at Yankee Candle in Sturbridge for over 20 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, and sharing her time between living with her daughter and family in New Hampshire, and her son Paul and his late wife Mary in Stoughton. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting and bowling. She liked to travel and enjoyed playing card games and watching Patriot football games.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge with a Mass at 11AM at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge, MA 01550. A calling hour prior to the mass will be at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30AM. Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery, 746 N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge.
