Gertrude (Dubreuil) Leduc

Southbridge...Gertrude O. (Dubreuil) Leduc, 102, died Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Her husband of 69 years was the late J. Cleo Leduc who died December 17, 2014.

She is survived by her sons Guy Leduc (her primary caregiver) and Thomas ( Regina) Leduc, both of Southbridge, as well as her four grandchildren,  Amy McKinstry of Auburn, Kristin (Brian) Sandberg of Auburn, and Thomas R. Leduc and Lindsey Leduc, both of Southbridge. She also leaves five great-grandchildren, Thomas "TJ" (Alyssah) Gentry, Kegan Gentry, Zoey Sandberg, Saige Sandberg and Vaeda Sea Miano, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Judith (Leduc) McKinstry Carmel, as well as her seven siblings (in order of their birth) Doris Montville, Camille "Cam" Dubreuil, Rachel Bastien, Gerard “Gerry” Dubreuil, (Gert), Paul Dubreuil, Lucille Lvoff, and Arthur Dubreuil. 

She was born in Southbridge, daughter of Henry and Julie (Lemoine) Dubreuil, and was a proud lifelong resident who loved her community. She was a member of Notre Dame Church (St. John Paul II Parish) and a graduate of the former Mary E. Wells High School.  She worked for several years as a switchboard operator for New England Telephone Company and then for 20 years at the former American Optical Company, from which she retired.

Gert enjoyed spending time with her family, helping to raise three generations. A staunch Democrat, she enjoyed following (and arguing) politics. She was an avid Red Sox fan and supported Southbridge High School football, not missing a Thanksgiving game for many years. Gert enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. She was a Good Samaritan to everyone in her community, and you could find her at Big Bunny Market almost every day since they opened their doors. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who were touched by her vivacious life.

The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022,  at 11AM at Notre Dame Church (please meet directly at the church) on 446 Main Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.  Burial will follow at Saint George Cemetery, Paige Hill Road in Southbridge. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 28th, at Sansoucy Funeral Home from 5-7 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Ave. Worcester, MA 01602
