Georgette Mathieu Obituary


Southbridge - Georgette L. (Martel) Mathieu, 96, died Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the Southbridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, following an illness.


Mrs. Mathieu's husband, Eugene L. Mathieu, died October 13, 2012.  They were married September 14, 1946.  She is survived by her son, Paul E. Mathieu and his wife, Inez, of Spencer, MA; 7 grandchildren, Linda Mathieu, John Mathieu, Kevin Mathieu, Jeff Mathieu, Christopher Mathieu, Steven Mathieu, and Jessica Denton; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Callie Mathieu.  Mrs. Mathieu was predeceased by her son, Gerard L. Mathieu, who died November 18, 2014. 

Born in Southbridge, MA on December 11, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Irene (Proulx) Martel, Jr.  She worked for many years as an inspector at the former American Optical Company in Southbridge, MA.  Mrs. Mathieu was a member of Notre Dame Church (St. John Paul II Parish), and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality.  The Mathieu family extends their sincere gratitude to Southbridge Rehab and Health Care Center's staff for the care provided during her time there.
