Sturbridge...George R. McDonald, 92, died Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Webster Manor, after a brief illness. His wife of 71years was the late Aurore (Blais) McDonald who died February 15, 2022.
He is survived by 5 daughters: Susan Pienton and her husband Walter of Southbridge, Georgette Martin and her husband Ronald of Sturbridge, Diane Martel and her husband Richard of Woodstock, Lisa Allen of Dudley, and Lou-Ann Krause of Sturbridge, 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He also leaves 2 brothers Richard McDonald of Charlton, and Roger McDonald of Sturbridge, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 5 brothers: Norman, Lucien, Raymond, Roland, Robert, and 4 sisters: Jeannette Gelineau, Noella Faraday, Constance Wagner and Lucille Dronzek.
George was born in W. Dudley, son of the late Wilfrid and Annette C. (Bousquet) McDonald and lived most of his life in Southbridge before moving to Sturbridge. He was a member of St. John Paul II Parish, (Notre Dame Church). He retired from Digital Computers Corp. in 1994.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and building and flying model airplanes. He also was a very crafted woodworker.
Calling hours were held on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 5-7PM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge. A funeral Mass at 11AM will be held on May 16, 2025 at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge (St. John Paul II Parish). Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery, 746 N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge.
