Emile Jolin Obituary

Emile George Jolin, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21st in his home of 51 years, with his soulmate Susan by his side.

He was born in Southbridge, October 23, 1943, son of Paul and Elizabeth (Favreau) Jolin, living in Dudley for most of his life. He was a communicant of St. Anne/St. Patrick's Church in Fiskdale.

Emile is survived by his soulmate Susan Redfield, his daughters: Joann Holmberg of Pennsylvania, Denise Jolin of Holland, Melissa Jolin Christianson and her husband John of Southbridge, his son Charles Jolin of Florida, and 3 grandchildren, Toby Jolin, Shay Holmberg, Heather Grenon, and 2 great-grandchildren, Maxx and Anabelle. He also leaves his brother John Jolin of Sturbridge, and a sister Diane Gagnon and her husband Gerald of Brookfield, and many nieces and nephews.

Emile was predeceased by six brothers, Paul Jolin, Francis “Frank” Jolin, Joseph Jolin, Marcel Jolin, (who also passed away Friday, March 21, 2025), Phillip Jolin, Eugene Jolin and two sisters, Elizabeth Gaumond and Elaine Cardenas.

Emile worked most of his life doing construction mainly for Kaitbenski and Soper’s Construction Companies. He enjoyed operating the heavy equipment and excelled at it. He was one of the hardest working men you ever could’ve known.

He loved traveling all over to fairs, especially the Fryeburg Fair in Maine.  Almost every Labor Day weekend, you could find him watching the horse and tractor pulls at the Woodstock Fair. Beautiful wood projects were made by him in his workshop that he built and designed from scratch. Plenty of vegetables were always shared from his gardens along with fresh eggs whenever he had chickens. The birds were always well fed so he could watch them through the slider, relaxing in his recliner. There was never a shortage of storytelling of memories of his life.

His fish chowder that he made on occasion was such a special treat that you always went back for seconds. He absolutely loved his family and especially enjoyed spending all of his time with his soulmate, Sue.

To say that he will be missed is such an understatement and Emile will always be remembered for his pride, sense of humor and forever trying to get you to believe he was serious when he was actually joking.

The funeral will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM, at St. Anne's Church, 16 Church Street, Fiskdale, MA 01518.  Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 26th at the funeral home from 5-7PM.
