Eleanor "Ellie" K. (Ek) Flynn

Sturbridge ~ Eleanor “Ellie” K. (Ek) Flynn, 84, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester, following an illness.

Born in Woburn, MA on April 24, 1939, Ellie was one of four daughters of the late Gunner and Helen May (McKenney) Ek.  She is survived by her sons: Robert Flynn of Sturbridge, and Daniel Flynn and his wife, Kristy, of Woodstock, CT.  Ellie was predeceased by her daughter, Kelly J. Flynn, who died December 25, 2020.  She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Kayla Cardenas, Seamus Flynn, and Maggie Flynn, her great-grandson Joshua Cardenas, and her sister Carolyn Ek, of Arlington, MA.  Ellie was predeceased by two sisters: Barbara Meuse and Grace Blais.  

Ellie graduated from Woburn High School.  She was a locally well-known hairstylist, owning and operating the former Finer Cut Hair Salon which she opened in 1975, in Sturbridge.  She enjoyed traveling, but her greatest passions were her family and her customers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dodge Park Rest Home for their incredible care of Ellie.

Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, is handling funeral arrangements.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the LaSalle Reception Center, 444 Main Street, Southbridge, MA from 4-7PM, with a Prayer Service beginning at 4PM.
