Charlton, MA – Edward C. Lavigne, Jr., passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Worcester, MA, on June 16, 1939, to Aurore R. (Perron) Lavigne and Edward Lavigne, Sr. He is predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife, Janice M. (Reardon) Lavigne, his cherished daughter Lisa M. Lavigne, his dear sister Patricia Castonguay, and his dog, Cuddles.
Ed is survived by his sister, Carol Hope; his sons Bryan, John, and James Lavigne; his daughters Christine Lavallee, Marianne Guskey, Sandra Szyszko and her husband Michael, Erin Latour and her companion Stuart Saine, III; his brother-in-law Francis Reardon; his dear friend Miriam Cruz; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
Ed built a fulfilling career as a pattern maker at San Vel Concrete Corporation in Littleton, MA, before following his passion as a craftsman and owning The Woodworks in Charlton, MA, retiring in 2005. A man of many talents, Ed was known for his ability to fix anything and help family and friends with home projects. His “Yankee ingenuity” was his specialty.
An adventurous, friendly, and outgoing spirit, Ed was the captain of his high school swim team, an Eagle Scout, and enjoyed boxing, camping, music, and dancing. He loved meeting new people and was often seen sitting around his campfire with a Coors Light in hand, sharing stories with friends and family.
A dedicated volunteer, Ed selflessly drove cancer patients to Boston, embodying his deep commitment to helping others. He was a longtime member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Southbridge, MA.
Known for his humor, strength, and generosity, Ed was devoted to his family and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a beacon of resilience, with an extraordinary will to live and an unyielding spirit that inspired all who knew him. Even in the face of adversity, his hope and perseverance stood as a reminder that true strength lies not in avoiding struggles, but in facing them head-on.
Ed’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Calling hours: January 31, 2025, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy St., Southbridge, MA. Burial will be private.
