Sturbridge...Edward D. Desrosier, 95, died Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at UMass Memorial/Harrington.
He leaves his wife of 70 years, Irene M (Szczygiel) Desrosier, they were married June 26, 1954).
He leaves two sons, Edward Charles "Chuck" Desrosier and his wife Karen of Lake Wales, Florida, Bruce J. Desrosier and his wife Nancy Coderre of Southbridge, and his daughter Gail A. Desrosier of N. Haven, CT. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, Melanie Beck and her husband Kai of Poughkeepsie, New York, Andrew Kaczmarek of New York City, Abigail Kaczmarek of Hoboken New Jersey, Leah Kaczmarek of N. Haven, CT, Paige Kaczmarek of N. Haven, CT, Lindsey Cruz and her huband Juan of Lake Wales, Florida, and Shannon Huffman and her wife Rebecca of Murfreesboro, TN, several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Jan (Desrosier) Lenzotti who died in 1997, and his sister and brother-in-law Lorraine R. (Desrosier) Thomas (2015) and her husband William "Bob" Thomas (2011) of Macungie, PA.
Mr. Desrosier was born in Worcester, son of Ernest A. and Helen (Lippe) and lived in Southbridge before moving to Sturbridge. He was a member of Notre Dame Church (St. John Paul II Parish). He graduated from the former Mary E. Wells High School, Class of 1947. He served in the 45th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict.
He owned E.D. Desrosier Insurance in Southbridge for many years before retiring. He was an active member of the YMCA, the VFW Post 6055, and he enjoyed traveling.
The funeral will be Saturday, August 10, from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge with a Mass at 10AM at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge. Burial with Military Honors will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery, 746 N. Woodstock Road, Southbridge. Calling hours will be Friday, Aug. 9th from 5-7PM at the funeral home.
