Chan was born in Vientiane, Laos on June 22, 1970. Chan is survived by her husband, Davone Keovongmanysar, her three children, Amanda, Jordan, DJ; her sisters, Deng Xaypanya, Prapai Mahaskuma, Nang Prasith, Jit Putthasy, Chay Bershtein, Candy Seng; her brothers, Sounthone Phouthasy, Souvith Phouthasy, and Lansith Nalong, her mother-in-law Vang Bernard (Ketnouvong), as well as many nieces and nephews and other dear family members. Chan was predeceased by her mother, Samly Phougnam, her father, Sap Phouthasy, and her father-in-law, Liap Ketnouvong.
Chan and her siblings immigrated to the United States in 1982. She eventually settled in Southbridge after marrying the love of her life, Davone. It was love at first sight when the two met and their 32-year love story began shortly after.
Chan loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved cooking and feeding her loved ones, making those all around her feel welcomed. She enjoyed maintaining her garden, where she grew a wide variety of flowers, fruits, and vegetables. She loved listening and dancing to all genres of music, whether in her bathroom getting ready or dancing with strangers in the park. Chan was a tremendous mother and wife. She never missed a school event or a soccer game, no matter how many or how far. Her outgoing personality made her known as ‘Mama Chan’ to most. She had the need to make those around her feel loved, accepted, and heard. Her infectious bright smile and endearing laughter lit up every room she walked into.
