Doris Theresa (Petrin) Desrosiers
February 7, 1930 – August 22, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished Doris Theresa (Petrin) Desrosiers, 94, Resident of Quaboag Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center of West Brookfield, and former longtime resident of Sturbridge. Doris departed unexpectedly on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at UMass Harrington Hospital in Southbridge.
She was a loving and devoted mother of eight children. She leaves behind five sons, Eugene Desrosiers and his partner Jeanne Benoit Mcfaul of Southbridge, Richard Desrosiers and his partner Madelyn Pelletier of Kingston, PA, Alan Desrosiers and his wife Muriel of Sturbridge, Michael Desrosiers and his wife Elizabeth of Southbridge, and Gary Desrosiers of Sturbridge. She also leaves three daughters, Sandra Blanchette and her husband “Chet” of North Grosvenordale, CT, Linda Erricola and her husband Richard of Millbury, MA and Paulette Rust and her husband Gerry of Van Buren, NY. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty four years, Gerard N. Desrosiers who passed away in 2001. They were married at St. James Church in Danielson, CT on July 5, 1947. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Roger Petrin and Roland Petrin, as well as her daughter-in-law, Natalie (Beaudry) Desrosiers the late wife of son Eugene and predeceased by her great granddaughter Jaclyn Desrosiers the late daughter of grandson, John Desrosiers.
Doris was born in Putnam, CT, the daughter of the late Ernest and Flora (Thibeault) Petrin. She worked several years in the hospitality industry including over 20 years at Mario’s Restaurant providing many loyal patrons with friendly and attentive service all while raising her eight children! Her role as Mother and Grandmother were her greatest joy and accomplishment. She enjoyed time spent with her family and vacationing at the beach in Maine and Cape Cod. She was a warm, loving and caring person and always had a big bright smile that radiated so much happiness. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
