Delia (Ohop) Targonski

Southbridge...Delia (Ohop) Targonski, 103 years old, the Town of Southbridge oldest resident, died July 4, 2026, at the Rose Monahan Hospice, after a brief illness.

Her husband was the late Clemence G. Kupiec, who died in 2007.  She was previously married to Stanley Kupiec who died in 1977, and Walter Targonski who died in 1993.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Kupiec of Woodstock, who died in February 2025. She also was predeceased by her brothers: Chester Ohop, Stephen Ohop, Walter Ohop, Edward Ohop, Ralph Ohop, Bernard Ohop and her sisters Wanda Ohop, Evelyn Talbot, and Isabel Zigadlo.

Mrs. Targonski was born in Southbridge, daughter of Stephen and Victoria (Weglarz) Ohop, and was a lifelong resident. She was a former member of Saint Hedwig's Church, and now of St. John Paul II Parish. 

She retired in 1978, from the American Optical Company, where she worked for over 38 years.  She was a member of the former AO Quarter Century Club, and the former Pilsudski Polish Club. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint, but she was truly a Red Sox fan, rarely missing a televised game.

The funeral will be Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with a Mass at 11AM at Saint Mary's Church, 247 Hamilton Street, Southbridge. A calling hour at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge will be held from 9:30-10:30AM prior to the Mass.  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge.
