David Thomas O'Rourke, 59, late of Rhode Island and Newbury, MA, passed away quietly 10/1/20 at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, MA, after a lengthy illness.
David grew up on Plum Island, graduated from Triton Regional High School, and studied carpentry at Whittier Tech. After becoming a Finish Carpenter, he worked with contractors and later, started a general contracting business of his own.
David was a funny, witty, easy going guy who always knew how to lighten the mood. He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, classic cars, and skiing (the faster the better). He especially loved the ocean, Plum Island, and all the friends he met while growing up there. However, the love of his life was his daughter Amy, an honor student at UConn.
David was born 12/28/60, Malden MA to John James O'Rourke, Jr. and Charlotte Pauline (Knell) O'Rourke, of Plum Island, Newbury; both pre-deceased David. He leaves behind one daughter: Amy O'Rourke; Sisters: Kim O'Rourke of Plum Island, Newbury; Sister & brother in law: Karen (O'Rourke) Himeon and David Himeon of Coventry, RI; Brother: Kelly O'Rourke of Portland, Maine. Two nephews: Cory Himeon & Jesse Himeon of Coventry, RI; two nieces: Shannon O'Rourke and Mary O'Rourke of Portland, Maine; cousins in MA and SC. We hope he is at peace and in a better place now.
A Life Celebration for David will be held Sunday, October 18, 12-5

Family & Friends: For David’s Celebration we are planning an afternoon with a seated meal; dedicated waitresses and a private bar/bartender. You’ll choose from their full menu. In lieu of flowers/donations/COVID, etc., we graciously ask that you contribute to David’s Celebration by covering your meal/bar tab.
The Skybox is a wonderful, open area, set up for gatherings. Depending on space, Winner’s Circle will have a pool table & darts, for us; however, KENO/Lottery, Internet Jukebox and Stereo System (radio/cd/IPOD) will be available for our use.
The Winner’s Circle is graciously accommodating us; all MA COVID precautions will be followed. Masks will be needed unless you’re seated. Up to 30 will be allowed in the Skybox, however, we will be able to utilize the first floor & the outside areas, as well; to accommodate guest flow.
First floor pool tables & arcades will be open, etc. We welcome upbeat toasts, funny stories, warm memories, and photo’s (there will be a photo board). Thank you everyone for your love, support, and prayers. (written by Kim)
