Darleen L (Clarke) Sawyer

Southbridge…Darleen L. (Clarke) Sawyer, 73, died November 11, 2022, after a long illness.   She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Herbert Sawyer, who passed away in 2015.

She is survived by her children: Tammy Anderson and her husband Dale of Southbridge, Karen Sawyer of Southbridge, Herbert Sawyer, Jr. of Southbridge, Harry Sawyer and his companion, Tina Lane of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Brenda Miner and her husband Anthony of Stockton Springs, Maine.

She leaves her sister Sandra (Clarke) Murphy of Brimfield, sisters-in-law Dorothy Glockner of Westminster, and Peggy Harris of Templeton, and a brother-in-law Joseph Sawyer of Sturbridge.

She also is survived by her 16 grandchildren: Joseph Sawyer, Tiffani Diaz, Crystal Burlingame, Christopher Sawyer, Nicole Cyr, Katrina Yeomans, Zachary Sawyer, Mathew Sawyer, Anthony Miner II, Joshua Sawyer, Jeffrey Mayo, Morgan Lane, Jonathan Anderson, Sarah Latour, David Anderson and Julia Sawyer, 33 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Darleen was born in Southbridge, daughter of the late Harry H. and Cecile J. (St.Laurent) Clarke and has been a lifelong resident. 

Her love, humor, selflessness, and kindness shined brighter than the sun on a Summer day with glimpses of rainbows from her smile. She loved her family with all she had, and filled her life with the laughs and giggles from all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took pride in family gatherings, where she made her favorite family dishes, bringing her loved ones together each holiday. There will never be a sunshine as bright or a rainbow as vivid, but in each ray of light and shower that reveals a rainbow, we will remember, honor, and love her as she has loved us forever.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 5-7PM, at ViewPoint Church, 26 Ellis Road, Southbridge, MA.

Following the service, the Sawyer family would like for all to join them for a reception at the church.
