Southbridge...Carmen Bruno, 73, of Main Street, died Monday, February 24, 2020, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after an illness. She is survived by her children Julio Cabrera of Southbridge, Wanda Viruet of Charlton, Jhoan Jones and her husband Walter of Southbridge, her longtime companion of 25 years Modesto Aponte with who she lived, a brother William Bruno of Puerto Rico, and 2 stepsons Edwin and Javier Aponte and 2 step-daughters Melitza and Marisel Aponte. She also leaves her grandchildren Pedro Aponte, Jose Rivera, Janexia Rivera, Dominque Rivera, Julius Cabrera, Michael Torres, Jonathan Cabrera, Jarius Gordon, and Elijah Medina, and six great-grandchildren.
Carmen was born in Manati, Puerto Rico, August 24, 1946, daughter of Benito Bruno and Carmen Leonor Melendez, and has lived here for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Church (St. John Paul II Parish) and was a retired employee of the former American Optical Company where she worked for many years. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, and grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday, February 28, 2020, from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550, with a Mass at 10AM at Saint Mary's Church, 263 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, MA. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, February 27, from 6-8PM. Burial will be private.
