Brody Colon Obituary

Charlton — With unimaginable heartbreak, we share that Brody Jett Colon, age 11, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, doing what he loved most—being a kid: outside, full of life and joy.

Born on April 18, 2014, Brody came into this world like a wrecking ball—with big, beautiful blue eyes and a fire in his soul. From the very beginning, he was full of personality, laughter, stubbornness, and love. An old soul, wise beyond his years, Brody had a deep sensitivity and understanding rare in someone so young.

He was the kind of soul that only comes along once—a heart bigger than most could dream of, a wildly creative spirit, and a spark that lit up every room. Brody marched to the beat of his own drum—fearless yet cautious, free, and entirely his own.

He leaves behind his devoted parents—his mother, Laynie Cristo, his twin flame, the one whose soul danced in sync with his, and his father, Albert “AJ” Colon, his fiercest protector and greatest hero. Their love for Brody was infinite, and the depth of their loss is something words will never be able to capture.

He is also survived by his beloved big brother, Caedon Cristo, the one Brody looked up to as if he hung the moon—his role model, best friend, and greatest source of admiration. And his baby sister, Amelia Colon, who inspired in him a fierce sense of care and responsibility. Though often quiet, his love for her was powerful and steadfast a protective bond that shaped his heart in ways words can’t fully capture.

The bond they shared wasn’t just sibling love—it was soul-deep. They will carry his spirit with them in every heartbeat, every laugh, and every quiet moment of missing.

Brody was especially close to his maternal grandmother, Kelly Cristo—“Mema”—who shared his deep love for the beach and loved him like no other. He was also cherished by his paternal grandparents, Peter and Tracy Morales. Brody held a special place in the hearts of his Auntie Lacey Cristo and her partner, Shane Murphy, who shared his artistic spark. His loving, fun Uncle Brian Cristo—“Beepa” and his partner, Tava Castano, were his greatest adventure buddies and biggest cheerleaders, never missing a game. He was also dearly loved by his Aunt Tarsha Huftalen and her husband, Uncle Stephen Huftalen, Uncle Peter Morales, and Aunt Gabrielle Morales.

Brody had many cousins who adored him, including his very special cousin Makenna Zella and her partner, Dylan Cotton, who meant the world to him.

He was predeceased by his beloved great-grandmother, Carole Cristo, who we believe welcomed him with open arms, along with his cherished great-grandfather, Paul Lafleche, and great-grandmother, Constance Thompson.

Brody was deeply loved by many and surrounded by countless friends, but a few held an especially unshakable place in his heart—his lifelong friend, Levi Bates, and his best friend and chosen brother, Logan King, whose bond with Brody was built on pure, unconditional love and loyalty.

A proud athlete, Brody was a dedicated member of the Charlton-Dudley Rams, playing both lacrosse and football with heart, grit, and joy. He was also an honor roll student at Charlton Middle School, preparing to enter sixth grade this fall. Off the field, Brody thrived in the simple, beautiful moments—drawing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends. He found pure happiness boogie boarding in the ocean or floating peacefully in any body of water. That’s where his spirit felt free, calm, and completely at home.

His favorite place in the world was Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, where he made treasured memories with his family—soaking in the sunshine, the salt air, and the freedom he loved so deeply.

Brody’s spirit was bold, kind, and completely unforgettable. His memory will live on in the laughter of kids at play, the roar of a game-day crowd, the crash of ocean waves, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.

In honoring Brody, we celebrate not just the life he lived, but the light he gave to the world—bright, brave, and beautifully his own.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the residents of Jennings for jumping into immediate action, to the first responders for making every possible effort to save our sweet boy, and to our entire community for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and strength during this time.

Calling hours for Brody will be from 2-6PM, Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.
