Bertrice A. (Rand) Smith

Southbridge...Bertrice A. (Rand) Smith, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep with family by her side after a brief illness.  Her husband was the late Walter T. Smith, Sr. who died January 4, 2017.  They were married May 30, 1957.

She is survived by her son Walter T. Smith, Jr. and his wife Kris of Idaho, Peter Smith and his wife Theresa of Eastford, CT, Paul Smith and his wife Nancy of Ballouville, CT, and her daughter Elizabeth Comeau and her husband Charles of Charlton.  She also leaves 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren, and her sister Doris Dearing of Bangor, Maine.  She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara J. Meinsma in 2020, her brothers James Rand, Warren Rand, William Rand, her sisters Barbara Walsh, and Caroline Coughlin.

Mrs. Smith was born in Old Town, Maine, daughter of Warren J. and Madeline (Lenfest) Rand and has lived here for more than 50 years.

She and her husband Walter served as founding members of Faith Baptist Church.  She enjoyed crafting, making cards, writing stories, spending time with family and friends, music and serving The Lord.  She thoroughly enjoyed her family and enjoyed getting to know them and their individual gifts and talents. She often reminded them that she loved them and so did Jesus.  She would often say that Jesus saving her was the most important thing about her life.  She wanted her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to know Him and follow Him.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church, 515 Dennison Drive, Southbridge, MA 01550. A calling hour in the church will be held from 10AM to the time of the service. Burial will follow at OakRidge Cemetery, OakRidge Avenue, Southbridge, MA 01550. Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA is assisting the family with arrangements.
