Charlton...Bertrand "Ben" J. Gendreau, 91, and his wife Doris (Lavallee) Gendreau, both died Thursday, August 12, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident on August 6th, in Sturbridge. They were married August 17, 1968, and lived many years in Charlton.
They are survived by a daughter Jacqueline Carroll of Brookline, and 3 grandchildren, Matthew Cabana and his wife Robyn of Virginia Beach, VA, Lyndsay Ball and husband Robert of Auburn, WA, Shane Carroll and his wife Amanda of Southbridge, and 4 great-grandchildren Jace Klein, Robert and Andrew Ball, and Jackson Carroll. In addition to their grandchildren, Doris is survived by her sister and brother in law Dolores and Emile (Sonny) Rousseau, Jr. of Southbridge, many loving nieces and nephews. They were predeceased by a daughter Patricia Gendreau, Ben's first wife Dorothy (Langway) Gendreau in 1966, his siblings Maurice Gendreau, Fleurette Blaine, Rachel Jolicoeur, Muriel Beaupre, Rita Carlson, and Estelle Minervini.
They were members of St. Joseph Church in Charlton. Ben retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he worked as a machinist, and Doris enjoyed being a homemaker, baking for her children and grandchildren, and making crafts for her family.
The funeral will be from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, with a Mass for Ben and Doris Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 12:30PM at St. Joseph's Church, Putnam Road Ext. Charlton. Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
