Fiskdale ~ Anna M. (Saunders) Smith, 74, died Thursday, October 17, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA.
Born in Wareham, MA, on May 15, 1950, Anna was the daughter of the late Elliot and Faith (Bradway) Saunders. For many years she was employed by the United States Post Office as a letter carrier for the town of Holland, MA.
Anna will be remembered for her genuine happiness, fun nature, funny quirps, and many made up names for those she loved. She was a fierce force of love and support, always there for her children and grandchildren. One of her fondest accomplishments and memories she was so proud of was to organize her "girls" from bowling to a National Ten Pin Bowling Tournament in NY. All 22 of her "girls" she used to say. She was an avid Ten Pin bowler for many years.
She was a partner with her husband of 60 years, whom she cherished, and lived every day for, in their business The Sportsmen's Cellar in Fiskdale for 40 years. She was looking forward to her 60th Anniversary celebration with family and friends which she was happily able to do in September.
She loved nature, to garden, crocheting, bowling and taking every cruise she could. Anna was also a proud Super MAGA Supporter to the end.
Anna is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward Smith. She is also survived by her daughter, Trudy (Smith) Forte and her husband, Tim, of Southbridge, MA; 4 sons: Wade Smith and his wife, Rebecca, of Parish, NY; Brett Smith of Sunbury, PA; Edward Smith and his wife, Krystina, of Sturbridge, MA; and Adam Smith of Berlin, NH; 5 grandchildren: Amber Stevens, Timothy Forte, Elijah Smith, Isaiah Smith, and Lila Belle Smith; 1 great-grandson, Wyatt Stevens; her brother, Edward Saunders and his wife, Linda, of Sturbridge, MA; and her sister, Susan Ricci and her husband Dennis, of Georgia. Anna also leaves behind many,many foster children, nieces, nephews and her exchange students. She leaves behind her Best ride or die friend of almost 50 years Paula Moore, her cousin Marianne Sweet and her husband Wayne who would visit her frequently.
She was predeceased by her brother Henry Saunders, and by her infant (7 months) sister Jane Saunders.
Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA is entrusted with Anna's care. There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Anna's Life will be July 5, 2025 at 1PM at 21 Fiske Hill Road, Sturbridge, MA 01566
