On Saturday December 18, Amy Lavanchy, loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully in Boston at the age of 53 after a courageous battle with cancer. Amy was born in Beverly Massachusetts in 1968 to Allen D and Mary E Lavanchy (Noonan). She graduated from Tantasqua High School in Sturbridge, MA in 1987 and worked at Mapfre Insurance (formerly Commerce Insurance) in Webster MA for 33 years.
Amy was a kind, warm-hearted person who loved her family and friends (who she considered family) more than anything. She called everyone "honey" or "hon" and made the people she interacted with feel special. One of her best-loved pastimes was seeing live music and saw her favorite band Pearl Jam more than 70 times. She was also a passionate Patriots fan and loved watching games with her friends, wearing Patriots gear from head to toe, cheering them on. Amy's favorite season was summer where she spent as much time as she could at the beach. One of her treasured vacations was a trip she took to Hawaii to see Pearl Jam in concert, combining her love of the beach with her love of the band.
Amy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary. She is survived by her father Allen and his wife Constance Curtis of Brewster, MA, her brother Doug Lavanchy and his husband Kenji Yokoo of San Francisco CA, her sister Laura Hall and her husband Norman Hall of Southbridge, MA, her sister Heidi Wilson and her husband Mark WIlson of Falmouth MA, her niece Sarah Hall of Salem MA, her niece Megan Hall of Southbridge, MA, her niece Emily Hall of Southbridge MA, her niece Maddie Hall of Southbridge MA, her niece Olivia Wilson of Falmouth MA, her nephew Ben Wilson of Falmouth MA, as well as many beloved cousins and friends.
Burial services will be private for immediate family only, but there will be a memorial service for Amy in the Springtime, details to be determined.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers at the Rhode Island Hospital, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital for taking such wonderful care of our Amy.
