Aida Alicea

September 27, 1963 ~ May 18, 2020 (age 56)

Aida Alicea, 56, of Southbridge died peacefully on May 18, 2020.  It is comforting to believe that she was carried on wings of angels to her Heavenly rest.

Aida is survived by her life partner, Shawn Severns.  Aida is also survived by her mother Lydia Alicea of Charlton and by her two brothers, Geraldo Alicea and his wife Rosemarie of Charlton, and Alberto Alicea and his wife Janet of Sanford, North Carolina.

Aida will be lovingly missed and remembered by her nieces and nephew; Allison Alicea of Southbridge; Nicole Alicea of Charlton; and Lauren, Katherine, and Michael Alicea of Charlton.  In addition, she leaves behind a loving family of cousins and aunts and uncles in the Southbridge and Orocovis area of Puerto Rico.  She was the sister and aunt some never had.

Aida grew up in Southbridge and was a 1982 graduate of Southbridge High School.  She graduated from Wilfred Academy Hair and Beauty School and had a career in the hairdressing industry at various salons in Southbridge.  Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all.

She was an avid cook and took a special interest in preparing Spanish food that had been prepared for generations by her family. She gained these cooking skills from her mother, Lydia Alicea.

She had a great appreciation for animals and a special connection with her dog, Max, who will miss her forever. Aida enjoyed vacations, visits to the beach and day trips she was able to share with friends whom she loved dearly.  All things pink and sparkly, magical, miraculous, spiritual, and life-affirming were cherished by Aida.

She was preceded in death by her father, Pedro A. Alicea, brother, Pedro L. Alicea, and brother, Jose Alicea.

Sansoucy Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Due to current Covid-19 gathering restrictions, a time of remembrance and celebration of Aida’s life will be held at a later time.
